It’s always great to see runner and walkers achieve their goals of finishing a marathon or half marathon. This morning thousands reached those goals at the 2014 edition of the Carlsbad Marathon and Half Marathon. Among them were Team In Training participants from all over San Diego County who trained together and raised more than $95,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to fight blood cancer. I’m proud to have represented many of these fine folks as their run coach and also as their REALTOR®. Find out more at kerrygarnett.com.
I met Ingrid as her coach for a Team In Training event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. After the race event I met with Ingrid and Robert to discuss their plan to move up to a newer and larger home for their kids and family pets. It was time for a nice yard and some space. The first step was to sell a home in Descanso where Robert’s family had owned land for more than 30 years. It took some time, but a perfect buyer came along who liked the country feel of Descanso. Then we focused on selling their townhome in Scripps Ranch after making a few improvements. We timed the sale of their Scripps Ranch home with the purchase of their new home in Escondido to close escrow on the same day. I’m so happy to have helped Ingrid and Robert achieve this plan, and they can now host larger family gatherings in their beautiful new home.
My buyer clients Jeff and Lisa were looking for an investment property. We found a nice 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo in Talmadge being sold as a short sale. Thanks to very patient clients we finally closed about 20 months after the unit had originally been listed for sale.
It was an honor to list a home in Descanso that had been in the family of one of my clients for two generations. They built the home on land the family had owned since 1974. It was an emotional sale, but my clients are pleased that another family will enjoy the home they built.
It’s been a privilege to represent Doug and his wife on the sale of their home in Serra Mesa. They’ve been neighbors of mine since I moved to Serra Mesa in 2000. They decided to make a big move to be closer to their grandchildren on the east cost. So we met in January and discussed how to prepare the house to get top dollar in this current San Diego market. I spent more than 5 weeks helping the seller manage multiple vendors who updated the exterior and interior paint and ceilings, re-finished the wood floors, updated the light fixtures and hardware, and put in new landscaping. It was well worth it. We received more than 30 offers in less than two weeks most of them above asking price. Now it’s up to the new owners to take good care of this wonderful home.
I’m very proud to represent the sellers of a beautifully remodeled home in my own neighborhood of Serra Mesa 92123. This home has 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, 1570 square feet of living area plus a family room measuring about 300 square feet. It’s a perfect, single family home in one of San Diego’s most desirable neighborhoods where I happen to live myself.
Each year some Team In Training friends throw a Super Bowl Party fundraiser inside the race track at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. It’s a great SoCal way to watch the Big Game outdoors when most of the rest of the country is way to cold for that.
It was my honor to be the Team In Training coach when Jessica successfully completed the 2010 Los Angeles Marathon. I was so pleased to meet up with her again when she and Phil began searching for a home in early 2012. They decided to make a big change from downtown San Diego condo living to a beautiful home in Carlsbad. They tell me Barkley likes his new home too!
It’s been nearly 25 years since I attending a Texas High School Football game. In my former life as a TV sports anchor/reporter, I covered Permian High School Panthers the year that Buzz Bissinger was there to write his book, “Friday Night Lights.” This past year I attended the Lufkin HS playoff game vs. Plano West HS for a very different reason.
